Profusion Group announces it will invest US$100 million in eight hotels

The Profusion Group will invest US$100 million over five years to build eight new hotels in various provinces across the country. Each hotel will have 120 rooms, for a total of 960 rooms.

This was reported by Edward de Valle, director of Profusion Group, who explained that the project will be carried out in two stages. In the first stage, four hotels will be built in Punta Cana, La Romana, and near Las Américas Airport. These first four hotels are expected to be ready between 2020 and 2022. He said that this project will create more than a thousand direct jobs and is a product made and designed for Dominicans from abroad.

De Valle explained that Profusion Group, the project developer, has formed an alliance with Wyndham Hotel Group to introduce its La Quinta Hotel by Wyndham concept to the country, which are mid-range hotels at reasonable prices but with excellent quality.

He indicated that the hotel is aimed at three groups: first, Dominicans living in the country and abroad; families; and corporate travelers, so that Dominicans and foreigners traveling on business have a hotel chain where they can accumulate discount points.

He said that the hotels would have one- and two-bed rooms and floors dedicated to families, where rooms could be connected. He said that they are not all-inclusive hotels.

De Valle provided these details during an interview on HOY alongside Irene Tamayo, a partner at Profusion Group. Tamayo explained that they work with Fiduciaria Universal.

She emphasized that the country is attractive for investment, as confirmed by international organizations and banks, given its strong economic growth, low inflation, and connections to all continents.

“The country is stable and growing economically, and this tells us that the Dominican public and the middle class are also growing and can enjoy the same conditions as any international tourist and also demand hotels that are not all-inclusive for vacations with their families,” explained De Valle.

He indicated that these hotels will not operate as franchises but will be managed by Wyndham.

“It is important that the country begins to create products with Dominicans in mind and not just foreigners, and we are moving in that direction,” he said.
